“And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
Our Vision For the Cause of Christ (Mt. 24:14): To make known the good news about Jesus Christ to everyone until he returns.
Our Commitment to Fulfill the Great Commission (Mt. 28:19-20): To help anyone become a follower of Jesus Christ by explaining his teaching and illustrating how all can apply these teachings to our own lives.
Our Response To God's Love (Mt. 22:37-39): To demonstrate our love for God by loving our neighbors through acts of kindness and compassion.
Our Approach to Serving God (Eph. 4:12): To develop personal involvement in missions by communicating worldwide needs and preparing God's people to be a part of faith building ministry projects.
Our Passion For Missions (Acts. 1:8): To be a voice for Jesus Christ in our own neighborhoods and everywhere he leads us to go.
Our Desire For the Nations (Ps. 67): To see people worship God who is revealed in the Bible through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Each of the following ministry areas requires that we educate ourselves, pray and commit to be involved. We seek first to learn as much as possible about each ministry area. That helps us pray more specifically and know how to best be involved. For example, a ministry priority for us is to support those who suffer simply because they follow Jesus Christ. We do this by being informed about the persecuted church and communicating ways to help.
Adopt a people group: FBC prays for the Kabyle Berber people of North Africa and has sent volunteers to serve among this persecuted people group.
Promote the plight of the persecuted church: FBC is involved in the ministry of Voice of the Martyrs.
Encourage mission ministry partners: FBC invests prayerfully, financially and personally in the work of missionaries that have been sent out by FBC and in para-church ministries throughout our community.
Financially support mission causes: The FBC budget includes a mission category and FBC receives additional mission designated offerings annually.
Mobilize people to serve: We pray for at least 10% of our membership to serve internationally as short-term, long-term, or career missionaries and that 50% would serve locally through community ministries.
Involve everyone in missions: Children, youth and adults all have opportunities to participate in missions either through prayer, giving or going as one sent on mission.
Organize mission ministry projects: FBC serves locally and globally on mission. Each mission project is designed to help meet both physical and spiritual needs of those we serve.
Prepare ourselves to serve: Volunteers meet frequently prior to going on mission for ministry training and instruction related to the work of their specific project.
Plant churches: FBC is active in planting a new church in De Soto, Kansas, and wherever missionaries are located around the world.
Long term partnerships: FBC seeks long-term partnerships in mission work. We prioritize working with missionaries sent out from FBC but also develop partnerships with para-church organizations and ministries that God places in our path with a similar desire to honor Jesus Christ. We have seen that over time these partnerships help us understand ministry needs better and thereby serve more effectively.
Everyone a missionary: Missions at FBC starts with you and me. We believe that every Christian has a part in furthering the work of Jesus Christ in the world today.
Platforms for service: God designed the family to be the place where He first begins to draw people to Himself. It is within the context of the family that people grow and develop in their faith. As a result the family can be a wonderful starting point for a life long commitment to serve God and others. At FBC we build upon God’s design for the family through Life Groups. Life Groups may be viewed as your Christian or church family. FBC follows Jesus Christ’s pattern of serving others day by day through families and Life Groups.
